From the moment we are born, we are shaped by the world around us. Our families, schools, culture, religion, and media give us messages about what is right, what is wrong, what success looks like, how to treat others, and even what to believe about ourselves.
Some of these beliefs help us. They teach us kindness, respect, or the importance of hard work. But others may hold us back. They may tell us we’re not good enough, that people must always be a certain way, or that we should never question those in power.
The truth is, just like we grow out of clothes as we get older, we sometimes grow out of certain beliefs too. What made sense to us when we were children might not fit the reality we live in as adults. The world changes. We change. And our beliefs need space to shift too.
This is why it's important to check in with ourselves from time to time and ask:
-Does this belief still help me grow?
-Does it keep me kind, curious, and grounded?
-Is it based on truth or fear?
-Am I holding onto it just because it’s familiar?
If the answer is no, then it’s okay to reshape that belief, challenge it, or even let it go.
Changing our beliefs doesn’t mean we’re weak or disloyal. It means we’re honest, growing, and brave enough to create space for something better.
So don’t be afraid to ask questions. Even the big ones. Especially the big ones.
Because growth doesn’t happen by holding tighter. It happens by letting go — and reaching higher.
